Position Description 

Reporting directly to the director of Marketing and Communications, the marketing manager at Equal Justice Works must have an understanding of the full range of marketing channels and the ability to combine that with excellent analytic and communication skills. This includes managing the design, development, and execution of all marketing campaigns for the organization and its programming; planning, executing, and reporting on all paid campaigns; acting as creative lead for all branded collateral and materials; and serving as event marketing lead for events hosted by the organization throughout the year. The marketing manager ensures that brand standards are consistently met and that marketing campaigns set new standards for creativity and innovation while achieving set key performance metrics. The ideal candidate will be evaluated on his/her ability to work closely and collaboratively across units to determine and achieve marketing campaign objectives that best serve building the Equal Justice Works brand.



  • Oversee presence of the Equal Justice Works brand and content on digital channels including website, social media, and microsites to ensure consistency, relevance, and value.
  • Coordinate and lead full marketing plan for organization’s events including event promotion strategy, content planning, and look and feel of event.
  • Maintain visual standard for brand ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Drive Equal Justice Works’ digital marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness, engagement, growth, and connection with our community.
  • Serve as lead project manager and work in close coordination with our Communications Manager and external videography team to conceptualize and develop videos featuring members of our community that support storytelling objectives of organization to lift the Equal Justice Works brand.
  • Determine and manage budget allocations for all organizational and program-driven marketing campaigns and set thoughtful KPIs and campaign goals.
  • Identify need for and manage vendors and consultants including videographers, photographers, graphic designers etc.
  • Serve as marketing analytics lead on the team and develop performance reports for all marketing campaigns.



  • 3-6 years of directly related experience implementing marketing strategies while at an agency or in-house at a company or nonprofit organization
    • MBA or advanced degree in marketing a plus
    • Project management certification a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with digital analytics tools including:
    • Google Analytics
    • Facebook Insights
    • Twitter Analytics
    • E-mail marketing analytics
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with digital marketing tools including:
    • Google AdWords
    • Facebook advertising
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Passionate about staying up-to-date on new trends in digital media industry
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple campaigns/events
  • Able to commit to 15% travel time (when conditions permit)
  • Supervisory experience of at least one professional staff person and experience managing outside vendors
  • Eagerness to excel in collaborative, team-oriented environment with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Experience with ClickDimensions and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM) a plus
  • Eagerness to serve in support of the mission and vision of Equal Justice Works
