General Job Description:

The Development Assistant supports the administrative needs of the Institutional Advancement unit. The position will support the enterprise-wide travel outreach, coordination and preparation activities; assist in the planning and execution of regional events, and provide support on fundraising campaigns. The position requires strong attention to detail, and a keen knowledge of the activities and procedures specific to the Institutional Advancement Unit. The Assistant reports to the Senior Manager of Development Operations and works closely with all members of the team on the implementation of the organization’s fundraising plans.




  • Help coordinate, track and support the organization’s meeting outreach, including but not limited to maintaining travel procedures, tracking outreach lists, drafting emails, preparing meeting profiles, assembling travel materials, and scheduling meetings.
  • Assist in cultivating and stewarding donors including but not limited to processing donor acknowledgements, organizing content in reports to donors, updating records in the organization’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and supporting the logistical needs for regional receptions and the Annual Dinner.
  • Provide support for fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to updating opportunities, conducting donor research, and collaborating with the Development Coordinator to track donor engagement.
  • Provide support to the Executive Office, including but not limited to supporting the Executive Assistant during Board meetings, and assisting with the administrative needs of the Executive Vice President and Executive Director, as needed.
  • Provide support in coding and submitting IA-related travel expenses.
  • Other duties assigned.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Lifting responsibilities of up to 20 pounds.



  • Daily activities are conducted in a typical office environment.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Familiarity/experience with donor management software would be a plus.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
